Background
Jointly spearheaded by Metta and Community Development Centres (CDC) of the South East and North East Districts, our centres offer quality yet affordable care services to children aged 7 to 14 of all races and religions, regardless of their families’ financial backgrounds.
Our mission is to nurture the best in them through creating a conducive environment that supports their physical, intellectual, emotional, social and moral development.
Programmes & Services
Our affiliation to well-established social service providers enables us to render enhanced caregiving assistance to needy parents, while providing abundant opportunities for our young learners to participate actively in community outreach programmes, thereby inculcating resilience and a strong value system in them.
Integrated Curriculum
On the other hand, fulfilling our primary aim to nurture them into confident individuals with a positive attitude towards learning are structured programmes that provide academic support and enrichment skills.
Supervision of homework, reinforcement of school curriculum through graded worksheets, group discussions and remedial lessons come under the former, while enrichment programmes like arts and crafts, speech & drama, storytelling, music and dancing promote strategic thinking, creativity and valuable life skills.
Encouraging personal exploration through recreation and play are sports and team-building activities, educational visits and nature trips. Developing their IT competency are programmes that teach them how to acquire, evaluate, organise, interpret and communicate information through technology.
SE CDC-Metta Student Care Centres 1 & 2 (SESCC)
Formed in September 1998 and January 2002 by the South East CDC and Metta, both centres cater up to a total of 177 students.
With a variety of learning opportunities available for different types of learners, our students can network with other peers, share their experiences and enhance each other’s educational goals.
North East CDC-Metta Student Care Centre
Set up in June 2001, the centre is able to accommodate 90 students. Similar to SESCC, our funding sources come from service charges, fee assistance from our CDC partners and Metta.
Likewise, we offer emergency care service to parents who need to entrust their children with us temporarily. |
