2022 means a lot to Metta as we celebrate this significant milestone as one. A big Thank You to all who have contributed their time, efforts, skills and support in making us who we are today!

30

30th Anniversary logo

A collection of colourful dots makes up the logo design, symbolizing the collaborative efforts of individuals as we commit ourselves to serve the community. The glowing dots represent the glimmer of hope we are bringing to our clients as we establish meaningful and impactful partnerships with our corporate and community partners.

Our work would not be possible without the continued support of like-minded people like you. The theme, You + Me, Shine The Light Forward also represents our journey together now and in the future.

This year, Metta is attempting to break a record in Singapore Book of Records and having an Anniversary dinner in September. Let’s celebrate Metta’s 30th Anniversary together!

Watch and share Wan Leng talk about her struggle. You can Make An Impact!

Wan Leng, mother of Hayden and Izabel.

Children who are diagnosed with the lifelong neuro-developmental condition, Autism Spectrum Disorder, may have difficulties with social interaction and communication and face delays in social or language developmental milestones.

This means that they may struggle with expressing themselves and being understood clearly, a social ability that you and I may take for granted.

It is not uncommon for people or parents to feel a sense of hopelessness upon hearing that their young toddler is diagnosed with autism. While the condition is lifelong, access to early intervention will give these children with autism the best possible chance of developing to their fullest potential. The sooner the child receives help, the greater the chances for learning and progress.

With early intervention and with parental collaboration, we have seen our children with mild autism blossom in tremendous progress that they are able to attend mainstream primary schools.

At Metta Preschool, we work with children diagnosed with ASD, including Wan Leng’s children, Hayden and Izabel. While we work towards giving these children the best chance in life, we also work with those who cares for them too – their caregivers, their parents, and their families.

Let’s hear Wan Leng’s struggle as she supports her children.

Yi Xuan graduated from Metta PreSchool in 2010 and began his journey in Metta School. With many opportunities to learn and explore in Metta School, Yi Xuan built up his interests, motivation and desire to improve.

Whenever Yi Xuan is handed a new assignment, he will always say, “I will try my best.”

Once, using a creative storytelling app Toonstatic. Yi Xuan drew all the characters on to both paper and tablet, conceptualized the story plot from scratch, came up with the script and even did narration for all the three 2-minutes videos.

Then, in 2020, Yi Xuan was awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Exemplary Student Award!

All of us at Metta are proud of Yi Xuan for never giving up and always trying his best. We are honoured to have played a part in his journey.
